India’s privacy landscape has entered a decisive new phase. With the phased enforcement of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act ([DPDPA](https://www.ardentprivacy.ai/india-digital-personal-data-protection-act/)) beginning 13 November 2025, organisations can no longer treat privacy compliance as a future initiative. The focus has clearly shifted from understanding the law to operationalising it at scale.

Ardent Privacy has announced the launch of TurtleShield 4.0, the latest version of its flagship privacy and data security automation platform, designed specifically to help enterprises translate DPDPA requirements into measurable, repeatable, and auditable operations.

Ardent Privacy has been supporting leading enterprises in India for over 3 years, such as **HDFC Bank**, **Anchanto**, **HPCL** and others, reinforcing its position as a trusted provider of security and privacy automation solutions for India.

### Understanding the DPDPA: India’s New-Age Privacy Law

The DPDPA is India’s first comprehensive data protection legislation, governing how organisations collect, process, store, and protect personal data of Indian citizens. It introduces a strong accountability framework, backed by penalties of up to ₹250 crore for violations such as unlawful processing, inadequate consent mechanisms, or failure to implement reasonable security safeguards.

For enterprises, this is not just a regulatory shift, it is a fundamental change in how personal data must be governed across its entire lifecycle.

### Operationalising DPDPA: The Challenge

While awareness of DPDPA is high, organisations are struggling with the “how” of compliance.

Operationalising DPDPA requires converting legal obligations into day-to-day processes that span business, IT, security, legal, and data teams. This includes:

- Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) with organisation-wide accountability
- Building a Data Bill of Materials ([DBoM](https://www.ardentprivacy.ai/data-bill-of-material/)) through automated data discovery and classification
- Enabling Data Principal Rights such as access, correction, and erasure
- Implementing lawful, purpose-bound consent management
- Defining data retention and deletion schedules aligned with legal mandates
- Establishing data breach preparedness and response workflows

Most organisations face these challenges with fragmented tools, manual assessments, and incomplete visibility into where personal data actually resides. Without automation, compliance becomes inconsistent, costly, and difficult to sustain.

“We are really happy to make a new platform available today to both Indian and global enterprises to meet the unique requirements of DPDPA”, said Sameer Ahirrao, CEO of Ardent Privacy. “[TurtleShield](https://www.ardentprivacy.ai/products/)” is built on the strong foundation of the most efficient data discovery capabilities and implementing a Data Bill of Materials for enterprise data, which is essential to meet end-to-end privacy compliance requirements. Along with collecting and storing the consent, it needs to be implemented throughout the data life cycle, where TurtleShield helps immensely.
